Plans & Projects
In the last few years, we have worked tirelessly to plan out the future of Dighton. See below for the ways in which we are envisioning the future shape of our Town.
Pleasant Street Speed Zoning Proposal
After excessive comments regarding speeding throughout the Town, the Town partnered with SRPEDD to conduct a speed study. The Town also explored speed zoning and adopted the state provision to implement zones at the June 15, 2020, Town Meeting. We then discussed streets that would meet the minimum criteria for speed zoning as well as extra criteria we developed and took into consideration. Pleasant Street met these criteria. Review the presentation (PPT) given to the Board at a Selectmen's Meeting on October 7, 2020. Public comment was provided and many residents spoke in favor and against the speed limit change. The Board ultimately approved the speed zone on October 21, 2020, and began the next steps to implement the zone. These include engineering signage placement, submitting to MassDOT, and notifying residents again of the final zone parameters.
ADA Self Evaluation & Transition Plan (SETP)
This plan is a punch list of sorts to itemize and prioritize municipal properties that have accessibility barriers. We are looking to eliminate those barriers over time. The SETP is an audit that highlights ways in which the Town is not meeting ADA goals. Visit our ADA page for more information.
Sewer Extension Study - Route 138 to Hart Street, Pleasant Street
In 2019, voters appropriated funds for a feasibility study to determine the value and feasibility of extending sewer services along Route 138 in an effort to increase commercial development in the area. More information, including proposed funding sources, will be published soon. Please view the Dighton Sewer Extension Feasibility Study Report (PDF) for more details.
